Do you live in Finland? Join the Youth, peace and security network to promote the participation of young people in peace work!

The network aims to implement the UN Security Council Resolution on Youth, Peace and Security and to raise awareness of it in Finland.

We jointly organize events, meet with decision-makers, conduct expert visits, and carry out communications related to the topic. Additionally, the network ensures youth participation in the implementation of the national action plan. Our goal is to promote youth inclusion in peace work globally.

Participation in the network is open to all individuals and organizations interested in the subject. Member organizations are also asked to nominate a representative to participate in the network’s activities on behalf of their organization.

Network meetings are open to anyone interested, and we would love to see you at the next event or meeting! The meetings address current issues related to the topic. It is possible to participate in meetings and activities remotely.

Working Groups

If you wish to be more actively involved than just attending monthly meetings, you can join the network’s thematic working groups. The steering group, which guides the network’s activities, is selected annually at the beginning of the calendar year. Members—whether individuals or organizational representatives—may join multiple working groups based on their interests.

Steering Group

The steering group guides the network’s activities and, when necessary, represents the network and decides on its positions. The steering group consists of a chair, a vice-chair, a secretary, and four working group leads. The group is elected at the beginning of each year, and those elected are expected to commit to the group’s activities for the duration of the year. Additionally, the coordinator of the Youth, Peace and Security network participates in and supports the steering group’s work.

Thematic working groups

Thematic working groups coordinate and organize activities, events, communications, and advocacy efforts aligned with their respective themes. Their work may include drafting position statements, organizing events and awareness campaigns, and undertaking other engaging advocacy initiatives that the group wishes to pursue together.

The themes for the working groups for 2026 are:
– Technology
– Climate and environment
– Peace education
– Protection of youth
